Workface, Developer of BusinessCard2, Selected by AlwaysOn as an ‘OnDemand Top 100’ Winner

Recognized for creating new opportunities in cloud computing and SaaS

Minneapolis, MN - April 6, 2010 – Workface Inc., the startup behind a new online marketing and social networking service for professionals called BusinessCard2 (http://businesscard2.com), today announced it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the “OnDemand Top 100” winners. Inclusion in the OnDemand 100 signifies leadership amongst its peers and game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players. Wortkface was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

Workface and the other OnDemand Top 100 companies will be honored at AlwaysOn’s OnDemand event on April 19, 2010, at Hewlett-Packard’s Worldwide Headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. This two-and-a-half-day executive event features CEO presentations and high-level debates on how the Internet is disrupting how companies—from small businesses to large enterprises—create, store, distribute, analyze, and take advantage of their mission-critical data.

“As the digital information created by businesses continues to explode at astronomical rates, the need to store, manage, analyze, and share this information is becoming extremely challenging,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “We congratulate this year’s OnDemand 100 for providing the technology platforms and services needed to manage and leverage this new era of information complexity and overload.”

The OnDemand 100 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists, and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2010 list.

“We believe business is not just about companies, products, and services, but meaningful connections between people,” said Lief Larson, cofounder of Workface. “In the new social business environment, professionals must manage their online reputation, their ‘personal brand.’ BusinessCard2 users can easily manage, distribute, and market their brand with a compact electronic business card that can include a bio, images, files, videos, slideshows, podcasts, links to their social media profiles, and more. The product lets users have complete control over their online identity, and to distribute it openly across the web.”

February 15, 2010 - Minneapolis, MN - BusinessCard2, a web-based personal brand management, marketing and social networking service, has won the Social Business Innovation Award. The awards were established to recognize great work in open/social business and organizational design, innovation, transformation and efficiency using social technologies.

"We have the best set of tools in history for people to find each other and act together to create and improve on the things that matter to them," said David Cushman, founder of the Social Business Innovation Awards. "I hope you will join with me to celebrate the best of them - and through this find a path to the communities-of-purpose-driven future of the organization."

Social business is defined as businesses organized around social networks and the use of social technologies to support them. The context for business has changed dramatically in recent years - a shifting global economic climate, accelerating need for sustainable operations, and a political and societal demand for increased openness and transparency in business. The social business is an organization designed consciously around sociality and social tools, as a response to a changed world and the emergence of the social web.

"One of our core beliefs is that business is not just about companies, products, and services, but about meaningful connections between people," said Lief Larson, co-creator of BusinessCard2. Guinness World Record Attempt for Largest Business Card

Technology team developing business card for the internet also takes on Guinness biggest

MINNEAPOLIS - October 7, 2009--Twin Cities-based BusinessCard2.com has a real passion for business cards. Over the last two years the team, headed by entrepreneur Lief Larson, has created what is believed to be the world's largest network of web-enabled business cards.

On Monday, October 5th, the team also set out to break a Guinness World Record for the Largest Business Card. The card, measuring 60" by 34" was unveiled in downtown Minneapolis. "The business card has been around in some form for more than 250 years," said Larson. "You might say our team at BusinessCard2.com is a little obsessed and we thought a world record attempt at the largest business card would put the exclamation point on that fact."

To qualify for the world record, Guinness required Larson to physically pass the card to a business partner. The recipient was Lisa Rudolph of the internet service provider VISI, who Larson had just met at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. "Lisa thought I was joking when I told her I wanted to give her this giant card, but we had just met and she was a real sport about it."

Guinness has a set of stringent qualifications, making this world record attempt all the more amazing. In addition to size and presentation guidelines, Larson also had to take into account considerable manufacturing requirements.

350 Year Old Business Card Gets Makeover

The business card, sometimes called the world's tiniest billboard, hasn't changed significantly since its debut in 1658. However, two Minneapolis-based entrepreneurs are out to change that with web-enabled technology they say will revolution the business card, and possibly doing business in the Metro.

Minneapolis, MN, June 11, 2008 - Jereme Allen and Lief Larson have set out to reinvent the business card all of us carry in our pocket every day by creating a web-enabled version that can be broadcasted throughout the internet. Their virtual business card technology, called BusinessCard2, is engineered to be passed, transmitted, and discovered entirely in cyberspace. Their website is located at BusinessCard2.com.

Last year their company began testing a tool designed to help people create a virtual business card. Within several months more than 5,000 people had signed on, mostly from the Twin Cities Metro. "This year things really started to take off for BusinessCard2,"" said Larson. "We have countless professionals from around the Twin Cities, all creating their business card for the internet." BusinessCard2 was designed with the objective of helping professional find more opportunity and business online. The technology has been very popular with sales professionals, but anyone who works for a living can use the system. Hundreds of thousands of potential customers search BusinessCard2 to find the right people for the job. Unlike services such as Angie's List and YellowPages, BusinessCard2 looked beyond merely companies, products and services, and instead placed all its focus on connecting people in meaningful and personal business transactions in cyberspace, much the way professionals use business cards in their authentic lives.

One of the most compelling features of BusinessCard2 is the fact that the technology empowers the business card to go anywhere on the Internet. "Our mission as a service is to go out and find tangible business, customers, and leads for the thousands of professionals using BusinessCard2," said Larson. "To accomplish this we created technology that can reach the four-corners of the internet." The company is current testing new technology they call Identity BroadcastingSM, which they say has the potential to substantially improve the way professionals market themselves on the web by making relationships between web content, potential customers and their users' professional experience.
